How to fold a paper cracker

This guide shows how to fold a simple cracker out of a paper sheet in six simple steps. To get most “bang for the bucks”, use a thin paper sheet, such as from a news paper.

To be honest, I actually created this article most because I wanted to draw the folding pictures. ;-)

Folding steps

Step 1

Place the paper sheet in front of you, with one long side towards yourself. It doesn’t matter which side is up.

Step 2

Fold it at the middle, so that the two long sides come together. Then fold it back.

Again, fold it at the middle, but this time so that the two short sides come together. Then fold it back.

Check

Please note that the paper now should look like this.

Step 3

Now, take each corner and fold it towards the middle of the page. Make sure that the side on the short side of the paper is aligned to the middle fold that is parallel to the long sides.

Step 4

Now, again fold it a the middle so that the former long sides come together, but this time, keep it folded.

Step 5

Take the two sharp edges and fold them to where the third edge would have been, if the paper had been square.

Step 6

Finally, fold the paper in middle at the seam between the two “wings”, where it is already folded.

How to use

Now, the paper cracker is finished!

Grab the two “wings” (the red dots on the images below) and hold the cracker in front of you.

Raise your hand and then pull it down fast. The cracker will expand, and sound “bang”. Simply put the expanded part back again to do it again.

That wasn’t too hard, was it? ;-)

  11. Wow I remeber these from being a little girl. Infact I once entered a competition with a famous crisp company. The winning entry won a chopper bike. I received confirmation that I’d won and was convinced a chopper would be on its way to me. I got a runner up price which was a cracker snap. I’m sure I had fun with it, after I got over the disappointment of not getting the chopper. I’ve never eaten the said crisps since.

  20. Ummmmm….
I can’t do it, I think the paper needs to be a square, because when it’s a square it works!
And, like Ryzeger said, it’s better with an A1 paper, which is a square
